Norway is a country located in Northern Europe. It has one of the longest and most rugged coastlines in the world. It has over 50,000 islands and more lakes than Finland (the land of thousand lakes). It boasts of the world’s longest tunnel, Europe’s deepest lake, midnight sun, northern lights and formidable fjords. One trip to Norway is not enough to take in all the sights it has to offer. You can start with hiking in the national parks of Rondane and Gutulia or the famous Kjeragbolten (probably the most photogenic boulder in the world!). Biking and skiing are very popular activities; there are abundant scenic biking routes to explore. Don’t overlook the cities, sleepy fishing villages and charming medieval towns; they are equally scenic.
Norwegian is the official language although English is spoken by majority of the population. Norwegian Crown is the currency used in Norway. ATMs are available easily. Cards are accepted almost everywhere. Norway is expensive but it is easily one of the safest places to travel. The best time to visit is from May to July as the warm weather is suitable for outdoor activities. Colder months are suitable for viewing the northern lights.
