Scandinavia: Denmark

Denmark is a Scandinavian nation, a peninsula north of Germany but with its own numerous sets of islands. Once the seat of Viking raiders and later a major north European power, Denmark has evolved into a modern, prosperous nation. Today Denmark is a society that is often seen as a benchmark of civilization; with progressive social policies and a strong commitment to free speech as well as a rich, well-preserved cultural heritage, you have one intriguing holiday destination.
The terrain is dominated by mildly undulating agricultural landscapes, forests, minor lakes, extensive costal dunes, marshes and moors.
Hiking in Denmark is easy and rather popular as there are numerous trails all over the country, most of which are interconnected.

The national currency is the Danish krone, though, in more "touristy" shops in Copenhagen, and at the traditional beach resorts along the Coast it is often possible to pay in Euro.
Denmark has the least extreme climate of the Scandinavian countries, and though temperatures vary little across the country, wind conditions and proximity to the sea shake things up a bit. Though spring usually brings bright sunlight and cloudless skies, the best time to visit Denmark is during the summer months of June, July and August, when the climate is warmest and the blossoming landscape at its prettiest.
English is widely spoken in Denmark (close to 90% of the population speaks it, making Denmark one of the most English proficient countries on the planet where English is not an official language), Danish is the states’ official language.
