Peru

Peru is located on the western coast of South America. It is an extremely bio diverse country. A trip to Peru makes for an experience of a lifetime. Its vibrant culture, archaeological gems, exotic jungle and heavenly cuisine will leave you with a lifetime of memories. Machu Picchu, the legendary lost city of the Incas, is undoubtedly as magnificent as you have imagined it but there is more to Peru than Machu Picchu. Peru has some of the best trekking and hiking trails in the world - among those Colca Canyon and the Inca jungle trek to Machu Picchu are not to be missed. When in Peru, fly over the enigmatic Nazca lines, swim along the pink dolphins of the amazon, explore the sacred valley, visit the floating islands of lake Titicaca and go surfing in Mancora. The capital city Lima is vibrant and a great place to try tasty traditional Peruvian cuisine.

Spanish is the official language of Peru. Indigenous people speak Quechua. Few in the capital, Lima, understand English. Nuevo sol is the official currency. Traveller’s cheques and credit cards can be used in cities. For more remote towns, carry enough cash. Counterfeit currency and thefts are common problems faced here. The best time to visit Peru varies depending on the region and activity planned.
