Travel through Scotland’s scenic Highlands, onward to the stunning Isle of Skye that has inspired writers, artists and most definitely those who love their drinks. This trip is a celebration of your London Marathon victory as you go hopping from one famous distillery to another, yet it is so much more than just an exploration of Scottish houses. Explore the romantic Eilean Donan Castle in the enchanting Isle of Skye, and head off to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands before returning to Edinburgh - one of Britains most charming cities.

Please be aware that exploring Scotland means long drives and hours on the road. For this reason this trip may not be suitable for those travelling with young children.

Itinerary

Day 1
Monday: Arrival at Edinburgh Open or Close

Arrive at Edinburgh at leisure by train from London. There are several trains a day and we recommend that you arrive latest by 4 pm (or earlier). Your centrally hotel is walking distance from the train station. Later we head out for a Ghost Tour of the city to discover its ‘dark side’ literally as we discover its spooky corners, haunted alleyways and sinister stories that will transport you back to the terrifying past of old Edinburgh.

Day 2
Tuesday: Edinburgh - Old Town Open or Close

Edinburgh old town is a stunning collection of stories, legends and has been inspiration for many great things including Harry Potter. We embark on a walking tour of the city. You will discover many interesting parts of the town including the famous Edinburgh Castle that has served as a a royal residence, military garrison, prison and fortress. Your central location gives you the chance to explore the the best shopping stores on the Royal Mile walking on the cobbled streets.

Day 3
Wednesday: Isle of Skye Open or Close

Today we embark on a journey to explore the Isle of Skye and the Highlands of Scotland which is best experienced in small groups in small size vehicles. As such we can only carry one small bag per person on this trip and you will have the option to leave the luggage behind in Edinburgh whilst on this tour.

From Edinburgh our Isle of Skye tour heads west sometimes traveling via Glasgow enroute to the picturesque village of Luss, on the ‘Bonny, Bonny’ banks of Loch Lomond. Travelling north via Tyndrum we pass over the Rannoch Moor before enjoying time to admire the dramatic Glencoe valley, site of the 1692 massacre of the MacDonald Clan. After lunch in the Fort William area, we pause for photos at Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, then stop to admire Glen Garry and the stunning Five Sisters of Kintail mountain range. Our journey ends in the charming village of Portree, on the Isle of Skye, where we check into our accommodation.

Day 4
Thursday: Isle of Skye Open or Close

After breakfast we leave Portree for a full day’s touring, including Dunvegan Castle (entrance fees at own expense), or a trip to Uig and a stop to visit Flora MacDonald’s grave and the unique Black Houses, ancient dwellings of the Scottish Highlanders. We continue our journey where we can view Duntulm Castle, take photos of Kilt Rock and perhaps enjoy a walk at the Lealt Falls. Todays tour will give us the the opportunity to admire the Old Man of Storr, before we return to Portree.

Day 5
Friday: Loch Ness and Grampian mountains. End at Edinburgh Open or Close

We commence our descent via the famous Eilean Donan Castle (entrace fees at own expense), made famous by the movie ‘Highlander’; then move on to the pretty loch-side village of Fort Augustus in time for lunch to soak in the views of Loch Ness. We continue south over Laggan and the Grampian mountains with our last stop, in the Victorian resort town of Pitlochry, before returning to Edinburgh. We can expect to reach past 7.30 pm to Edinburg and Check in at the hotel.

Day 6
Saturday : Departure Open or Close

After breakfast check out from the hotel and make your way to London to take your international flight back home.

    majestic highlands

    Wonderfull Scottish highlands

    It was well planned tour by active holidays led by tour manager Suraj. Hotels were excellent and so was itinerary. Guide cum driver Scott was enthusiastic and helping..
    Scottish highlands and Eden borough are great destinations to visit .
